Located in Sant Jordi d’Alfama, the Museum of Popular Ceramics is considered one of the best of its kind in Europe. Inaugurated in 2001, the centre is located in the middle of nature, in an area of pine, carob and olive trees.
The 1,500 square metre interior houses a collection of more than 4,500 ceramic objects, arranged in various circuits: uses of ceramics, pottery centres, pitcher shapes, and ceramic processes and techniques. There are ancient and modern pieces from all over the Iberian Peninsula.
Strolling through its rooms you will learn about the processes and techniques of ceramics, its uses and functions, shapes and sizes over time. The museum also has an area with temporary installations, an audiovisual room and an educational classroom.
